Lessons
Sigourney is available for lessons in eventing, dressage, jumping, and groundwork. She enjoys teaching both the experienced competitor and those new to equestrian sports. She teaches lessons at Ciara West Equestrian (available for boarded horses only), The Horsepark at Woodside, and will occasionally travel to other barns to give lessons.

Training
Sigourney applies a positive and methodical approach to lessons and training. She is kind, thoughtful, and clear in her instruction. Her training process includes formulating attainable short and long term goals, regardless of discipline. She brings a sense of humor, enthusiasm, and a optimistic outlook to each training session!
Full and half training packages are available for horses boarded at Ciara West Equestrian. Training packages are customizable. Training can include nutritional management, and supervision of veterinary and farrier care.
Young Horse Program
Sigourney believes in setting up young horses for success in their future careers. Regardless of intended discipline, relaxation, focus, and emotional control are foundational skills every young horse should have. She uses groundwork to help young horses learn that training and learning is a non-stressful, enjoyable process. A well-rounded experience is important to developing young horses including trail riding, travel away from home, and early, non-stressful introductions to the show ring.
Sigourney has started many horses in their riding and competitive careers and enjoys partnering with owners to produce confident and correct young horses. She also has experience preparing young horses for breed inspections.
Training and competition services for young horses are available. Team Miramar regularly attends eventing, dressage, and jumping competitions - take a look at our current show calendar. Please contact Sigourney to discuss your horse’s background and desired goals.
Groundwork & Horsemanship
Traditional horse training is based on the technique of pressure and release. The training process starts as soon as we approach a horse with the intention of working with them–not when we climb in the saddle! When we approach training with this perspective in mind, groundwork and handling on the ground becomes infinitely more important, and a way to affirm and introduce the things we are asking for from the saddle.
Groundwork is an important part of creating a bond and relationship with your horse. Sigourney uses groundwork methods to work through training issues, and to create a strong foundation of trust and relaxation with each horse. In turn, this foundation provides a basis for horses to have positive experiences in and out of the show ring.
Groundwork is integrated into our training programs and can be the focus of lessons or on occasion a way to start a lesson.
Rehabilitation Services
Sigourney and her team are well-versed in rehabilitation care and has successfully rehabbed horses from a variety of injuries and conditions. She uses basic bodywork and, postural techniques in addition to correct ridden work to help each horse return to mental and physical health. She is also adept at transitioning horses to new careers and bringing horses back into work after a break.
PEMF blanket services are available within the barn. Sigourney has connections with many equine health service providers and can help design a program to help bring your horse to optimal health.
